Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far

SUblime abstract painting by elizabeth chapman mm.jpg

“Be not the slave of your own past - plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep, and swim far, so you shall come back with new self-respect, with new power, and with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Challenges. Some of them we create. Others are specially made for us. This painting "Sublime" is one of those such challenges. Sold as a commission. For more information on how I handle a commission, click: HERE. Originally sold as "Apropos", a 32 x 36 inch painting on a canvas. It began it's journey by being shipped to a wrong address of which it was left on the front porch for a weekend with the homeowners gone on vacation. It was to have a signature confirmation and showed that there was one given, yet no one had ever really signed for it??? The painting was re-routed but this time unfortunately it was damaged. No fault of ours as it was securely packaged. Refund given. All in all it was professionally handled by all involved. The worst part was it being such a major disappointment for the client. They absolutely LOVED the colors which matched PERFECTLY to their living room where it was to hang above the fireplace mantle. They wanted to have another painting of mine but just couldn't find this same color scheme. So instead, decided to commission a painting that would be similar to the old one but on a larger 36 x 48 inch canvas that would actually fit the space better.  Having worked out the details, the new creation began. For me, having already painted the first one made it much easier to paint this newer version. It was simply a matter of thinking back as to how I mixed colors, technique used, etc., The new painting was created from the experience having gained from the first one. Yet, it is even more gorgeous!!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
